Math Rotations work very well in classrooms. They help teachers differentiate teaching math to students! Here's how I ran my math rotations as a math specialist!
- Group your students into ability groups ( three or four)
- Make a math rotation chart with three or four sections:
- Teacher (teachers name) time - Guided Math
- Seat work - Math journals/fact practice if finished with seat work early
- Tech tools
- Math games
- Make the ability grouped students color/number coded (i.e., green, purple, orange or 1, 2, 3)) into three or four small lists to put on the rotation chart
- Write math norms (expectations: voice level 0 or 1, stay focused, do your best work)
